Baillargeon tallies five RBI as baseball wins fourth straight versus Brown

WORCESTER, Mass. – Senior first baseman Chris Baillargeon had three hits and five RBI as the Holy Cross baseball team earned an 11-1 eight inning run-rule nonconference win over Brown Tuesday evening on Fitton Field.

The win was the fourth straight for the 2025 Patriot League Regular Season Champion Crusaders (25-21) and their 12th over their last 16 games. Brown falls to 9-25 with the loss.

This was the second straight five RBI effort for Baillargeon as he is a combined 5-for-9 (.556) with three doubles and 10 RBI over his last two games. He has a team-high 21 multi-hit games which leads the squad. Freshman catcher Nick Spaner reached in all five plate appearances going 2-for-2 with three walks and his first collegiate stolen base.

The relief pitcher duo of freshman Pedro Leon and sophomore Andrew Nesson posted nine of the Crusaders 13 strikeouts in the contest all coming in the middle innings.

STARTING ON THE MOUND:
  • Senior Sean Scanlon: (ND, 0-3), 1.0 innings pitched, two hits allowed, zero earned runs, two walks, one strikeout.
  • Ian Keusch: (L, 0-2), 3.0 innings pitched, two hits allowed, one earned run, four walks, three strikeouts.
OUT OF THE BULLPEN:
  • Freshman Pedro Leon: (W, 2-2), 3.0 innings pitched, three hits allowed, zero earned runs, one walk, five strikeouts.
  • Sophomore Andrew Nesson: 2.0 innings pitched, one hit allowed, zero earned runs, zero walks, four strikeouts.
  • Carter Barth: 0.2 innings pitched, two hits allowed, three earned runs, two walks, zero strikeouts.
STEPPING TO THE PLATE: HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Some two out hitting in the bottom of the third from Baillargeon which plated Spaner from second opening up the scoring and the 1-0 Crusader lead.
  • More two out hitting from Baillargeon in the fourth with the bases jacked brought home two runs for making it 3-0. King added insurance via an RBI single to center for the 4-0 edge.
  • Landry notched his first career hit, an RBI single to left field to make it 5-0. Holy Cross loaded the bases for the third straight inning this time with no outs. Scanlon belted a sacrifice fly to expand the margin to 6-0.
  • The Crusaders loaded the bases and Spaner walked for the 7-0 advantage. With Scanlon batting a wild pitch brough home another run for the 8-0 score in the sixth.
  • Holy Cross completed the run-rule win in the eighth as Baillargeon doubled to left driving home a pair.

  • The 2025 Patriot League Regular Season Champion Crusaders will wrap up their conference slate on Senior Day this Saturday, May 3 versus Lehigh (22-21, 10-12 PL).
  • First pitch for the Patriot League doubleheader is 1 p.m.
