BOSTON, Mass. – Senior
Riley Peters scored a career-high six points on five goals and one assist, as the Holy Cross women's lacrosse team defeated Boston University 18-12 at Nickerson Field. The Crusaders conclude the regular season at 9-7 overall and 5-4 in the Patriot League, earning the No. 4 seed and a home quarterfinal game in the conference tournament. The Terriers finish the year at 8-8 overall and 3-6 in the league.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The game was tied at 4-4 after the first quarter, and the score later stood at 6-6 with 11:54 remaining in the second quarter.
• Holy Cross then closed out the quarter with a 9-1 run, taking a commanding 15-7 lead into halftime.
• The Crusaders increased their advantage to nine (16-7) early in the third quarter, before Boston University used a 5-0 run to make it a four-goal game (16-12) with 10:05 left to play.
• But Holy Cross would not let the Terriers score again, while adding two goals down the stretch to win by six.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
• Junior
Racheli Levy-Smith broke the school single-game record by picking up 20 draw controls.
• Senior
Sally Zinsner scored five goals on the night.
• Sophomore
Kate Avitabile added three goals and three assists for six points, while senior
Isabela Miller dished out five assists.
UP NEXT:
• The Crusaders will return to action on Sunday, April 27, when they play host to Colgate in the quarterfinal round of the Patriot League Tournament. Opening draw is set for 1 p.m. at Kuzniewski Field.
