LEWISBURG, Pa. — The Holy Cross men's tennis team was defeated by Lehigh 4-0 in the quarterfinals of the Patriot League Tournament at the Bucknell Varsity Tennis Courts. The Mountain Hawks improve to 13-9 overall and move on to the semifinals on Saturday, while the Crusaders finish the season at 8-11.
DOUBLES ACTION:
• Lehigh began the day by taking the doubles point with victories at the No. 1 and No. 2 spots.
SINGLES PLAY:
• Despite a number of close matches, the Mountain Hawks picked up wins at No. 3, No. 4 and No. 6 singles to clinch the overall victory.
• At No. 1 singles, freshman
Ezequiel De la Plaza trailed Jose Marariu 6-0, 4-6, 5-3 when play was stopped after the overall outcome had been determined.
• In other suspended matches, sophomore
Matt Carlson was attempting to force a third set against Marc Blekhman at No. 2 (6-3, 6-6), while junior
Patrick Ling had a chance to take his match with Jackson Morash to a third set at No. 5 (7-5, 5-5).
NEXT UP:
• The 2024-2025 season is now complete for the Crusaders.
