Ezequiel De la Plaza all posted wins in both singles and doubles action, as the Holy Cross men's tennis team defeated Stonehill 6-1 at the Charles Watt Tennis Courts. The Crusaders improve to 8-10 on the season with the victory, while the Skyhawks fall to 8-12 overall.
DOUBLES ACTION:
• Holy Cross began the day by taking the doubles point with wins at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions.
• At No. 1, De la Plaza and senior
Jeremy Clark downed Mark Kroll and Jacob Wilhelm Krefting 6-2.
• Bizzarri and Callery added a 6-3 victory over Jacob Borch-Nielsen and Guillaume Duhil de Bénazé at No. 3.
SINGLES PLAY:
• Holy Cross wrapped up the overall victory with five more wins in singles action.
• De la Plaza led the way by defeating Guillermo Bennaton 6-2, 6-2 at the No. 1 spot.
• Sophomore
Matt Carlson posted a 6-7 (5-7), 6-4, (10-2) victory over Borch-Nielsen at No. 2.
• Callery recorded a 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 win over Nicolas Arredondo at No. 4
• Junior
Patrick Ling added a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Kroll at No. 5, while Bizzarri topped Mateo Mallen 7-5, 6-3 at No. 6.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
• The Crusaders' eight total victories this year are the most since the 2003-2004 season, when they went 10-8 overall.
NEXT UP:
• Holy Cross returns to action on Friday, April 18, when it faces Lehigh in the quarterfinals of the Patriot League Tournament.
