FAIRFAX, Va. – The Holy Cross baseball team played a midweek contest at nonconference foe George Mason on Tuesday afternoon at Sphuler Field.

The Crusaders suffered a 26-6 loss to the Patriots. The setback sends Holy Cross to 5-5 on the season while George Mason moves to 8-4.

BOX SCORE:

• Sophomore Alex Sandell: 2-for-3, double, two RBI, walk.
• Senior Brendan Jones: 2-for-3, double, two RBI.
• Senior Connor Cooney: 2-for-3, double, two runs scored.
• Senior Connor Peek: 1-for-3, two runs scored.
• Sophomore John LaFleur: 1-for-4, double, two RBI.
• Senior Augie Walters: 2.1 innings pitched, two hits allowed, no runs allowed, walk.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• In the second, George Mason scored 23 runs to take a massive lead early in the contest.
• Holy Cross scored three runs in the fourth as Sandell doubled down the line to plate a pair and Jones singled for the other run.
• Jones lined a double into the left center field gap bringing in another run in the sixth.
• LaFleur doubled in the seventh driving home two runs for the Crusaders.

DUE UP:

• Holy Cross continues their spring break trip on March 5 at Towson (3-8). 
• First pitch is slated for 2 p.m. and the contest will stream live on FloSports.
