LEWISBURG, Pa. – Junior
Tory Rider scored a career-high five points on four goals and one assist, to lead the Holy Cross women's lacrosse team to a 16-10 victory over Bucknell at Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium. The Crusaders improve to 8-3 on the season and 4-0 in the Patriot League with the victory, while the Bison fall to 5-6 overall and 1-3 in the conference.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Holy Cross opened the day by jumping out to an early 5-1 lead after the first 9:20 of action
• The Crusaders increased the margin to 7-2 early in the second quarter, before Bucknell scored the next two goals to get back into the game.
• After Holy Cross led 9-5 at halftime, the Bison scored the first three goals of the third quarter to make it a one-goal game (9-8).
• But the Crusaders scored the next two goals to regain control, then outscored Bucknell 5-2 in the fourth quarter to pull away for the win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
• Senior
Sally Zinsner finished the day with five points on four goals and one assist.
• Senior
Isabela Miller added three goals and four assists, while sophomore
Annabel Brennan scored three goals and sophomore
Kate Avitabile dished out five assists.
• Junior
Mackenzie Creagh made six saves in goal, improving to 8-1 on the season.
• Junior
Racheli Levy-Smith added 12 draw controls, two ground balls and two caused turnovers.
• The Bison were led by Allie Boyce with three goals.
UP NEXT:
• The Crusaders will return to action on Saturday, April 5, when they travel to Navy for a 12 p.m. game.
