WORCESTER, Mass. – Junior captain Liam Lyons has been named Patriot League Track Athlete of the Week for competition between Mar. 17 – 23. 

Lyons broke two school records to kick off the outdoor season. He broke the 1500m school record with a time of 3:43.98 to take fourth in the event on day one. He previously set the record (3:45.46) running unattached at The Elliott Denman NJ International Track and Field Meet on June 1, 2024. He broke a 47-year-old 800m school record with a time of 1:49.55 to place sixth in the event on day two. The previous record (1:49.60) was set by Michael Mahoney on April. 29, 1977. 

The Holy Cross track and field teams will return to New England for the Black and Gold Invitational hosted by Bryant in Smithfield, R.I. from Mar. 28 to 29.
