WORCESTER, Mass. — The Holy Cross men's lacrosse team fell to Navy, 9-8 in overtime, Saturday afternoon at Kuzniewski Field.
 
Holy Cross moves to 3-7 (1-3 PL) with the loss, while Navy improves to 6-3 (2-1 PL) with the win.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Senior John Mitchell got the Crusaders on the board in a first quarter that saw Holy Cross take a 4-1 lead into the quarter break. Sophomore Bo Webster, junior Damien Ramondo, and junior Will Messineo each found the back of the net in the frame
• Sophomore Jon-Luke Duley was the lone scorer for Holy Cross in the second quarter as Navy cut the lead to 5-4 going into halftime.
• The two teams traded goals in the third quarter, with Duley and sophomore Sam McDonald scoring to take a 7-7 score into the final frame of regulation.
• Messineo's second of the game gave the Crusaders the lead with 6:49 to play, though Navy tied it up with 4:03 to play at 8-8.
• Navy won the game on a two-man advantage with 1:33 remaining in the first overtime.

BEYOND THE BOX:

• Junior JR Long recorded 20 saves in the contest, his second-highest mark of the season.
• Senior Matt Carbonell led the Crusaders with four ground ball pickups. Five different athletes recorded a caused turnover.

UP NEXT:

• Holy Cross will travel to Boston University to continue their Patriot League schedule on Saturday, March 29.
• Game time is set for 4 p.m.
