Holy Cross falls at Colgate

HAMITLTON, N.Y. — Sophomore guard Joe Nugent scored a game-high 21 points on eight of 13 shooting, but the Holy Cross men's basketball team was defeated by Colgate 81-73 at Cotterell Court. The Crusaders fall to 13-17 on the year and 5-12 in the Patriot League, while the Raiders improve to 13-17 overall and 10-7 in the conference.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
• Holy Cross made 49.2 percent of its field goal attempts and 43.5 percent of its three-pointers on the night, but was unable to overcome 16 turnovers.
• Colgate connected on 50.0 percent of its shots from the floor, while holding a 35-28 rebounding advantage and a 20-7 edge in free throw attempts.
• Sophomore forward Gabe Warren totaled 18 points, three rebounds and three assists, while junior forward Jaiden Feroah added 11 points, nine rebounds, two blocks and two steals.
• The Raiders were led by Jeff Woodward with 14 points and 13 rebounds.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Crusaders started the game hot, jumping out to an early 14-8 lead after the first 6:12 of action.
• Holy Cross was still up by six (23-17) at the eight-minute mark, when Colgate scored 11 straight points to pull in front. 
• The Raiders went on to hold a 37-36 advantage at halftime.
• The Crusaders pulled back in front by one (47-46) early in the second half, before Colgate used a 7-0 run to go up by six (53-47).
• The Raiders would hold onto a single-digit lead the rest of the way, with Holy Cross closing the margin to three (64-61) with 6:50 left to play.
• But that was as close as the Crusaders would get, as Colgate held on to win by eight.

• The Crusaders return to action on Saturday, March 1, when they play host to Bucknell in their regular season finale at 2 p.m.
