WORCESTER, Mass. — Freshman guard
Max Green totaled 22 points, six assists and five rebounds, but the Holy Cross men's basketball team was defeated by Bucknell 94-81 at the Hart Center at the Luth Athletic Complex. The Crusaders fall to 13-18 on the year and 5-13 in the Patriot League, while the Bison improve to 17-14 overall and 13-5 in the conference.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
• Holy Cross made 44.2 percent of its field goal attempts, 43.5 percent of its three-pointers and 78.1 percent of its free throws on the day.
• Bucknell was able to connect on 61.7 percent of its shots from the floor and 52.9 percent of its three-point attempts, while holding a 35-25 rebounding advantage.
• Sophomore guard
Joe Nugent finished the day with 22 points, three rebounds and two steals, while senior forward
Caleb Kenney totaled 21 points, five rebounds and two assists.
• The Bison were led by Noah Williamson with 22 points.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Bucknell opened the game by jumping out to an early 11-3 lead after the first three minutes of action.
• The Crusaders scored the next 10 points to pull in front, and eventually went up by seven (24-17) with 11 minutes left before the break.
• But the Bison responded with eight straight points, and went on to take a 50-43 advantage into the locker room.
• Holy Cross cut the deficit to six (50-44) early in the second half, before Bucknell went on a 15-0 run to take control.
• The Bison would lead by at least 10 points the rest of the way, eventually posting a 13-point victory.
SENIOR DAY:
• Prior to the contest, senior members of the program who will be concluding their collegiate careers at the end of the 2024-2025 season were honored in a pregame ceremony.
• Kenney was recognized, along with team managers
Carter Markett,
Matt McDonough and
Aidan Philbrick.
UP NEXT:
• The Crusaders return to action on Tuesday, March 4, when they play at Lafayette in the first round of the Patriot League Tournament. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
