BOSTON, Mass.— The Holy Cross men's track and field teams competed at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational hosted by Boston University at the BU Track & Tennis Center on Saturday, Feb. 15. Seniors Ella Grey and captain Haley Murphy both broke school records while competing in the meet.
WOMEN'S MEET HIGHLIGHTS:
- Murphy broke the five-year-old indoor 400m dash record with a time of 55.62 to finish 12th in the event. The previous record (55.78) was set by Caroline Frey '20 at the BU Terrier Classic on Jan. 24, 2020.
- For the third meet in a row, Grey broke her own 60m hurdles school record with a time of 8.55 to win the final. She previously set the record (8.56) at the URI Coaches Invitational on Feb. 8, 2025. Junior Celia Kulis also competed in the final (8.84, fourth).
- Freshman Abby Desmarais clinched second in the 60m dash final (7.67).
- Senior captain Maura Switzer and sophomore Shannon Briseno tied for second in the pole vault with a 3.52m mark for each athlete. Sophomore Bridget Sachs also competed in the event (3.52m, fourth).
- Desmarais also competed in the 200m open coming in sixth with a time of 25.12 (25.115). She just edged out senior captain Molly O'Connor, who placed seventh crossing the finish with a time of 25.12 (25.116)

- The Holy Cross track and field teams return to action when they head to Providence, R.I. to compete at the Brown Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 22.
