NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – Senior
Isabela Miller recorded a career-high 10 points on five goals and five assists, as the Holy Cross women's lacrosse team defeated Iona 18-5 at Mazzella Field. The Crusaders improve to 3-0 on the season with the win, while the Gaels open the year at 0-1 overall.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
• Senior
Sally Zinsner finished the game with six points on three goals and three assists.
• Senior
Riley Peters added two goals and one assist, while sophomore
Anna Affolter scored the first two goals of her collegiate career.
• Junior
Racheli Levy-Smith tallied a career-high 13 draw controls and two caused turnovers.
• Junior
Mackenzie Creagh earned her third win of the season, making five saves while allowing just one goal in 30 minutes of action.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Holy Cross led 2-1 after the first 10 minutes of play, before running off four straight goals to take a 6-1 lead at the end of the first quarter.
• The Crusaders then outscored the Gaels 7-0 in the second quarter and 4-0 in the third quarter to take a commanding 17-1 advantage.
• After Holy Cross scored the first goal of the fourth quarter, Iona ran off four late goals to conclude the scoring.
UP NEXT:
• The Crusaders will return to action on Friday, Feb. 21, when they play host to Brown at 5:30 p.m.
