ALBANY, N.Y. – Senior
Sally Zinsner tied her career high with nine points on six goals and three assists, as the Holy Cross women's lacrosse team posted a 16-8 victory over Albany at Casey Stadium. The Crusaders improve to 2-0 on the season with the win, while the Great Danes fall to 0-2 overall.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
• Senior
Ella Kittredge finished the day with four goals, three draw controls and two ground balls.
• Sophomore
Annabel Brennan added two goals and one assist, while senior
Isabela Miller tallied one goal and three assists.
• Junior
Mackenzie Creagh improved to 2-0 on the year, making six saves while allowing just eight goals
• Senior
Jackie Amato played a key role in the defensive effort, recording a career-best four caused turnovers.
• Albany was led by Courtney Rowe with three goals.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Great Danes opened the game by jumping out to an early 3-0 lead after the first 4:09 of action.
• Holy Cross came back to tie up the score at 3-3 by the end of the first quarter, then added three unanswered second quarter goals to take a 6-3 halftime lead.
• The Crusaders were later up by just two (8-6) at the end of the third quarter, before running off four straight goals to take a 12-6 advantage with 8:22 left to play.
• Holy Cross led by at least five goals the rest of the way, eventually pulling away to win by eight.
UP NEXT:
• The Crusaders will return to action on Saturday, Feb. 15, when they travel to Iona for a 1 p.m. game.
