WORCESTER, Mass. – Senior
Abby Hornung made 23 saves while allowing just one goal, as the Holy Cross women's ice hockey team tied New Hampshire 1-1 in overtime at the Hart Center at the Luth Athletic Complex. The Crusaders went on to win the shootout 1-0, taking an extra point in the Hockey East standings. Holy Cross now stands 10-5-1 on the season and 3-4-1 in the league, while the Wildcats move to 7-6-2 overall and 4-3-1 in the conference.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• New Hampshire opened the scoring 4:58 into the first period on a goal by Nina Rossi.
• The Crusaders responded less than four minutes later, as junior
Lulu Rourke found the net with assists from senior
Alexia Moreau and freshman
Violet Carroll.
• Neither team would score again in regulation or overtime, sending the game to a shootout.
• Freshman
Naemi Herzig scored the only goal of the shootout in the third round, while Hornung added three more saves.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
• Holy Cross finished the night with a 39-24 advantage in shots on goal.
• With the tie, the Crusaders snapped a 14-game losing streak against the Wildcats.

• Holy Cross hits the road on Saturday, Nov. 22, when it concludes the weekend series with New Hampshire at 7 p.m.
