Men's ice hockey set to travel to Air Force for two-game set

WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross men's ice hockey team is set to travel to Colorado Springs, Colo. to face Atlantic Hockey foe Air Force for a two-game series. Game time is set for 9 p.m. ET on Friday, Nov. 14 and Saturday, Nov. 15 at the Cadet Ice Arena.

THE CRUSADERS (5-5-1, 5-1-1 AHA):
  • Holy Cross enters the weekend on a five-game unbeaten streak.
  • The Crusaders earned their first series sweep of the season last weekend, downing Niagara in back-to-back nights.
  • In game one of the two-game set last Friday, Holy Cross came out on top, 5-1.
  • 11 different Crusaders recorded at least a point in the matchup, with senior Matt DeBoer leading the way with three points on a goal and two assists. The three-point game was the third of DeBoer's career.
  • In Saturday's 6-2 win, 15 Crusaders found their way onto the stat sheet, led by senior Michael Abgrall's two goals.
  • Junior Connor Mackenzie backstopped game one, stopping 15 shots and allowing the one goal. Freshman Danick Leroux recorded his first collegiate win on Saturday, stopping 40 shots.
  • MacKenzie's 1.01 goals-against average led the league among netminders this weekend, while Leroux's .952 save percentage was the second-best in the league, just .003 behind the leader.
  • DeBoer was named Atlantic Hockey Forward of the Week for his play in the series, finishing the weekend with four points on two goals and two assists. DeBoer recorded three points on night one, and netted the eventual game-winner on Saturday.  The accolade was the first weekly award for the assistant captain. DeBoer enters the weekend with 129 games played in his career, the second-most among active skaters.

SCOUTING AIR FORCE (5-4-1, 2-2-0 AHA):
  • The Falcons enter the matchup as winners of their last four games, sweeping Brown at home two weeks ago, and Sacred Heart in Fairfield last weekend.
  • The Falcons are led on offense by Sam Stitz (3-6-9) and Chris Hedden (4-3-7).
  • Junior netminder Dominik Wasik has started the last five games for Air Force, posting a 4-1 record with the AHA's fourth-best goals-against average (2.13) and third-best save percentage (.928).

ALL TIME SERIES:
  • The two squads have met 63 time, with Holy Cross holding the slim series lead at 25-24-14.
  • Holy Cross has won the last 12 meetings, and are 15-2-3 against Air Force since 2016.
  • In their two meetings last season in Colorado Springs, the Crusaders won 3-2 on Friday and 6-3 on Saturday.
