WORCESTER, Mass. – Freshman forward
Liam Heneghan scored his second goal of the season, but the Holy Cross men's soccer team was defeated by American 2-1 at Linda Johnson Smith Soccer Stadium. The Crusaders fall to 4-7-6 overall and 1-4-3 in the Patriot League, while the Eagles improve to 7-7-2 on the year and 6-1-1 in the conference.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• American opened the scoring in the 42nd minute, when Troy Elgersma converted a penalty kick after Holy Cross was called for a hand ball in the box.
• The Crusaders tied up the game in the 61st minute, as Heneghan knocked in a rebound after a header by junior defender
Jeb Snead was saved by a defender on the goal line.
• But in the 73 rd minute, the Eagles' Toshi Davis put home a rebound to conclude the scoring.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
• Holy Cross finished the game with a 17-12 advantage in shots, while American held an 8-5 edge in corner kicks.
• Freshman goalkeeper
John Smith made a career-high five saves on the night.

• Holy Cross returns to action on Tuesday, Nov. 4, when it heads to Boston University for a 6 p.m. game.
