BOSTON, Mass. – Freshman midfielder
Jack Fiedler scored his second goal of the season, but the Holy Cross men's soccer team was defeated by Boston University 2-1 at Nickerson Field. The Crusaders fall to 4-8-6 overall and 1-5-3 in the Patriot League, while the Terriers improve to 9-7-0 on the year and 5-4-0 in the conference.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Holy Cross opened the scoring in the 26th minute, when Fiedler put the ball just inside the right post from 15 yards out in the center of the box.
• Boston University tied the score at 1-1 in the 43rd minute, with Andrea Di Blasio converting a penalty kick after the Crusaders were called for a foul in the box.
• Then in the 67th minute, Ethan Gill put in a rebound to give the Terriers the lead for good.
• Holy Cross had some good chances down the stretch, but was unable to score again as Boston University held on for the win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
• The Terriers finished the game with a 13-5 advantage in shots and a 5-4 edge in corner kicks.
• Freshman forward
Archie Hatcher recorded an assist on Fiedler's goal, and finished the year as the Crusaders' leading scorer with 15 points on six goals and three assists..
