HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Crusaders net presence started strong in the first set as two blocks opened up a 6-3 lead early. Army erupted for an 9-4 run to take a two point 12-10 edge. Junior outside hitter Lily Eigner halted the stretch with a kill on the left pin before Army held a 15-11 score at the media stoppage. A Lee ace brought the Crusaders within five, 20-15. Army captured the set 25-17.
  • A long rally which resulted in an Army attack error put Holy Cross down one, 6-5 in the second set. Freshman setter/right side KK Green notched a kill and another Army miscue kept Holy Cross down a pair, 9-7. A 10-2 Black Knight burst put them in front 19-9. Senior right side Gracie Reisman recorded her first kill of the season off a senior Katie Russell set making it 20-10. Holy Cross kept fighting as Reisman swung down the line for a kill which was the start of four straight Crusader points putting them behind 24-19. Army won the set 25-19.
  • Army started the third set outscoring the Crusaders 8-2. Freshman setter Emilia Powderly set up Green on the outside for a kill trimming the margin to 10-6. Army eventually doubled up the score 18-9. Facing match point, Eigner started a stretch of three consecutive Crusader points with a kill pulling her team within four, 24-20 before Army took the match.
