SHELTON, Conn. – Senior
Lane Lewis tallied one goal and two assists, as the Holy Cross women's ice hockey team defeated Post 5-0 at the Sports Center of Connecticut. The Crusaders improve to 7-2 on the season, while the Eagles fall to 1-8-1 overall.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Holy Cross opened the scoring in the first period on a goal by sophomore
Kaitlin Sullivan.
• The Crusaders then increased their lead to 3-0 in the second period, with freshman
Naemi Herzig and senior
Emily Crovo scoring within 2:22 of each other.
• Freshman
Violet Carroll and Lewis added goals in the third period to conclude the scoring.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
• Senior
Abby Hornung (17 saves) and freshman
Campbell Krotee (one save) combined for the shutout.
• Lewis set a new career high with three points, while tying her career high with two assists.
• Senior
Charlotte Sonntag also tallied a career high two assists.
• Holy Cross finished the day with a 50-18 advantage in shots on goal.
• The Crusaders have not allowed a goal in their last three games, posting three straight shutouts for the first time since the 2017-2018 season.
