HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Crusaders and Saints traded points early, but Siena extended its lead to 10-5 in the first set after a service error, attack error and kill. Holy Cross trimmed the lead to 10-8 after a pair of kills from Sorensen and Lee and a bad set by the Saints. After Siena re-built a four-point lead, Holy Cross rallied back to tie up the set at 14-14, with Lee setting up Russell for the tying point. The Crusaders kept things close, but Siena eventually pulled away for the 25-21 win.
- Holy Cross continued to keep things close to begin the second set, with the score deadlocked at 10-10 before Siena took five of the next six points to build a comfortable lead. Lee had a kill to make it 15-12, but the Saint had four unanswered points and scored 10 of the next 12 to take the second set, 25-14.
- A kill from freshman KK Green gave the Crusaders a 3-1 lead to begin the third set, and that lead grew to 6-3 after back-to-back aces from freshman Kyla Harris. Siena was able to regain the lead, scoring seven of the next eight to go up 10-7. Holy Cross scored the next five — with three kills from Sorensen in that run — to go back up 12-10. After a service error, Lee and Sorensen teamed up on a block to make it 13-11. The Saints and Crusaders battled back and forth, with neither team leading by more than three the rest of the way, but Siena ultimately took the 25-22 victory.
