CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Sophomore
Amanda Aslan and junior
Lulu Rourke both scored goals, but the Holy Cross women's ice hockey team was defeated by Boston College 4-2 at Conte Forum. The Crusaders fall to 3-2 overall and 0-1 in Hockey East, while the Eagles improve to 2-2 on the season and 1-0 in the conference.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Boston College opened the game by scoring twice in the first 10 minutes, with a short-handed goal from Kate Ham and a power-play goal from Madelyn Murphy.
• Holy Cross responded when Aslan scored with assists from senior
Lane Lewis and freshman
Violet Carroll, trimming the deficit to 2-1 after one period of play.
• The Eagles added a goal from Ava Thomas early in the second period to go back in front by two (3-1).
• The score remained the same until less than six minutes remained in the game, when Rourke knocked in a rebound after a shot by sophomore
Skyler Sharfman was saved.
• But that was as close as the Crusaders would get, as Boston College added an empty net goal in the final minute to secure the win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
• Holy Cross finished the night with a 42-29 advantage in shots on goal.
• Rourke now leads the team with three goals scored on the year.
• Aslan's goal was her first of the season and the second of her career.
• Senior
Abby Hornung made 25 saves on the night.
NEXT UP:
• Holy Cross returns to action on Friday, Oct. 17, when it plays host to Dartmouth at 6 p.m.
