WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross women's hockey team hosted No. 13/14 Boston University to start the new year on Friday, Jan. 3. The nationally ranked Terriers took the 3-0 win over the Crusaders.
BETWEEN THE PIPES:
- Holy Cross: Abby Hornung (L, 4-7-0), 27 saves
- Boston University: Callie Shanahan (W, 10-4-1), 15 saves
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Neither team scored in the first period. Hornung made seven saves to Shanahan's six.
- In the second period, No. 13/14 Boston University converted on the power-play with a goal by Christina Vote at 2:52. The nationally ranked Terriers extended their lead with another goal by Riley Walsh at 9:30 for the 2-0 advantage.
- In the third period, the Terriers secured the win netting a second power-play goal by Tamara Giaquinto at 5:47 to take the 3-0 victory over the Crusaders.
- No. 13/14 Boston University led Holy Cross 30-15 in shots on goal and 33-20 in face-offs to conclude the game.
UP NEXT:
- The Crusaders return to action on Saturday, Jan. 4 when they travel to the city to take on No. 15 Northeastern at 7:00 pm. in Matthews Arena.
