Holy Cross falls at Boston University

BOSTON, Mass. — Sophomore forward Joe Nugent totaled 12 points, four rebounds and two steals, but the Holy Cross men's basketball team was defeated by Boston University 69-59 at Case Gymnasium. The Crusaders fall to 11-11 on the year and 3-6 in the Patriot League, while the Terriers improve to 11-11 overall and 5-4 in the conference.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
• Holy Cross made just 43.6 percent of its field goal attempts and 28.6 percent of its three-pointers on the night.
• Boston University only hit 41.7 percent of its shots from the floor and 17.4 percent of its attempts from three-point range, but held a 43-29 rebounding advantage and a 26-7 edge in free throw attempts.
• Freshman guard Max Green recorded 10 points, six rebounds and four assists, while sophomore guard DeAndre Williams added 10 points and three assists.
• The Terriers were led by Kyrone Alexander with 15 points.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Boston University started the game hot, jumping out to a 14-3 lead after the first 6:27 of action.
• The Terriers would increase their advantage to 12 (22-10), before the Crusaders used a 14-2 spurt to tie up the game at 24-24 with four minutes left before the break.
• Junior forward Jaiden Feroah scored five points during that spurt.
• Boston University eventually held a 31-26 edge at halftime, and was later clinging to a 35-34 lead with 15 minutes to play.
• But the Terriers then used a 16-1 run to take a commanding 51-35 advantage with eight minutes remaining.
• Holy Cross would get no closer than nine points the rest of the way, as Boston University held on to win by 10.
