KINGSTON, R.I.— The Holy Cross track and field teams competed at the Rhode Island Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 18 at Mackal Fieldhouse.

WOMEN'S MEET HIGHLIGHTS:

• Senior captain Haley Murphy won the 400m with a personal best time of 57.85.
• Senior captain Abby Hughes won the 800m (2:15.99).
• Senior captain Molly O'Connor claimed third in the 200m (26.34) and junior Giavanna Ciaravino placed fifth (26.40) in the event.
• Junior captain Alex Lusby clinched third in the 1000m with a personal best time of 2:57.07.
• Senior captain Maura Switzer (3.65m, third) and sophomore Bridget Sachs (3.50m, sixth) competed in the pole vault.
• Sophomore Gabby Paolella placed third in the shot put with a personal best mark of 13.35m. Freshman Lily Deforge (11.99m, eighth, PB) also participated in the event.
• Ciaravino took fourth (7.93) in the 60m final followed by freshman Abby Desmarais (7.94, fifth) and O'Connor (8.08, eighth)
• Seniors Ella Grey (8.82, third) and captain Lauren Clark (9.08, sixth, PB) competed in the 60m hurdles final.
• Junior Abby Granrath crossed the mile finish in fourth place with a personal best time of 5:12.25. Freshman Brigid Purcell also competed in the event coming in eighth (5:14.73).
• Sophomore Siena Brunetti finished fifth in the 3000m (10:47.60).
• Junior Ester Mokonchu came in sixth in the weight throw with a personal best mark of 15.90m.
• The 4x400m relay team including sophomore Lindsay Gill, Lusby, Desmarais and freshman Danielle DiEsso claimed third place with a time of 3:57.06.
• The 4x800m relay team including senior Helene Cummings, sophomore Annabel Murray, sophomore Olivia Petschauer and senior Shannon Jordan placed fourth with a time of 9:51.76.

MEN'S MEET HIGHLIGHTS:

• Sophomore Joseph Mahon won the 800m (1:55.35).
• Junior captain Liam Lyons won the 1000m with a personal best time of 2:26.98.
• Freshman Khalil Antoine won the triple jump (14.82m). Sophomore Logan Mott (13.45m, second) and freshman LJ Hines (12.90m, seventh) also competed in the event.
• Freshman Josh Gentchos claimed third in the 200m (22.61).
• Senior captain Brian Fennelly clinched third in the 60m hurdles final (8.40). Fellow senior Kevin Yatsuhashi also competed in the event finishing seventh (8.63).
• Freshman Arthur Ribeiro took fourth in the 400m with a personal best time of  51.38 followed by sophomore Tristan Miller in sixth (51.65).
• Senior captain Aidan Bergin placed sixth in the 60m finals (6.98).
• The 4x400m relay team including Miller, freshman Brendan Rogers, sophomore Luke Boothroyd and freshman Iain DeBoth claimed third place with a time of 3:27.85.

NEXT UP:

• The Holy Cross track and field teams will head to Boston, Mass. to compete at Riverhawk Invitational hosted by UMass-Lowell at the TRACK at New Balance. The men will compete first on Jan. 24 and the women will participate the following day on Jan. 25.
