Field hockey falls to Bucknell in Patriot League action

WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross field hockey team fell to Bucknell, 5-1, on Saturday afternoon at the Hart Turf Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Junior Kendall Blomquist got the Crusaders on the board just under five minutes into the second quarter. Picking up the rebound off of a shot by sophomore Marissa MacLean, Blomquist sent a reverse stick shot past the outstretched Bucknell goalkeeper.
  • Bucknell tied the game at 1-1 just about three minutes after. 
  • Bucknell took control in the second half, picking up two goals in each of the final two frames.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Freshman goalkeeper Mia McCloskey turned aside 10 shots in the matchup, marking her third game in the last four with double-digit saves.
  • Bucknell held the edge in shots (18-8), shots on goal (15-6), and penalty corners (13-4).

UP NEXT:
  • Holy Cross will head to Boston, Mass. for a Turnpike Trophy matchup against Boston University on Friday, Oct. 4 at 3 p.m.
