WEST POINT, N.Y. — Five different players won at least two matches, as the Holy Cross men's tennis team took part in the Army Shootout, with competition being held at the Malek Tennis Center and the Lichtenberg Tennis Center.
SINGLES ACTION:
• Sophomore
Teddy Callery led the team with two singles victories on the weekend, defeating Arya Alla of Sacred Heart (6-4, 6-3) and Vincent Turina of Hofstra (1-6, 6-3, 1-0).
• Other singles wins went to sophomore
Matt Carlson (6-4, 6-4 over Sacred Heart's Charlie Levinson), junior
Camilo Illanes (6-1, 7-5 over Sacred Heart's Lucca Lafrance), junior
Patrick Ling (6-2, 6-1 over Sacred Heart's Milan Karajovic), freshman
Lucas Bikkesbakker (6-2, 6-0 over Sacred Heart's Connor Liona) and freshman
Ezequiel De la Plaza (6-4, 6-4 over Hofstra's Josh Reynolds).
DOUBLES PLAY:
• Freshman
Will Donnelly earned wins in all four of his doubles matches, while De la Plaza and Illanes both added two doubles victories.
• Donnelly and Illanes paired up for wins over Ian Layton and Fateh Singh of Marist (7-5) and Andrew Immink and Zach Whittington of Fairfield (6-4).
• Donnelly also teamed with De la Plaza for a 6-4 victory over Army's Preston Archer and Michael Zhang, while combing with Callery to defeat Alexis Chastang and Mateo Mallen of Stonehill 6-1.
• In addition, Carlson and De la Plaza downed Fairfield's Alex Aguiar and Luca Benaibbouche 6-4.
