WORCESTER, Mass. – Senior forward
Evan Jones and senior midfielder
Jonathan Klein both tallied a goal and an assist as the Holy Cross men's soccer team defeated Lehigh 2-1 at Linda Johnson Smith Soccer Stadium. The Crusaders improve to 2-3-1 overall and 1-0-0 in the Patriot League with the win, while the Mountain Hawks fall to 1-5-1 on the year and 0-1-0 in the conference.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Lehigh opened the scoring in the 26th minute when Giacomo Zizza found the net from 18 yards out off a feed from Bora Turker.
• Holy Cross responded in the 73rd minute, as Jones flicked the ball into the net off his back heel with assists to Klein and senior midfielder
Jake Williams.
• Klein then scored the game winner in the 79th minute, knocking in a rebound after a shot by Jones was saved.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
• Holy Cross finished the game with a 15-6 advantage in shots and a 5-3 edge in corner kicks.
• Senior goalkeeper
Josh Tubbs earned the win while making three saves, including a key stop with less than a minute remaining to preserve the win.
• Jones now has 54 points on 21 goals and 12 assists in his collegiate career, moving into seventh place on the Crusaders' all-time scoring list.
• Klein has now totaled 28 career points on nine goals and 10 assists.

• Holy Cross returns to action on Monday, Sept. 16, when it plays host to No. 5 Clemson at 6 p.m.
