WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross men's soccer team was defeated by Stonehill 1-0 at Linda Johnson Smith Soccer Stadium. The Crusaders fall to 1-3-1 on the season, while the Skyhawks improve to 3-3-1 overall.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The only goal of the night came in the 25th minute, when Jared Rapoza picked up a turnover on the Holy Cross side of the field and dribbled to the top of the box before scoring from 18 yards out.
• The Crusaders had several good scoring chances the rest of the way, but were unable to convert as Stonehill held on for the victory.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
• Holy Cross finished the game with an 11-6 advantage in shots and a 3-1 edge in corner kicks.
• Tyler Sloan made three saves for the Skyhawks.
NEXT UP:
• Holy Cross returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 14, when it plays host to Lehigh in its Patriot League opener at 6 p.m.
