FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Senior midfielder
Jonathan Klein and sophomore defender
Brock Frasier both scored goals, but the Holy Cross men's soccer team was defeated by Sacred Heart 4-2 at Park Avenue Field. The Crusaders begin the season at 0-1, while the Pioneers start the year 1-0.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Sacred Heart opened the scoring in the 21st minute on a goal by David Garcia Gallego.
• The Pioneers increased their lead to 2-0 in the 47th minute, when Pablo Alcoba headed in a Zach Lorenz corner kick.
• Holy Cross responded less than a minute later, when Frasier knocked in a pass from senior midfielder
Marcus Williams.
• Klein then tied up the score at 2-2 in the 77th minute off a feed from junior midfielder
Ethan Gill.
• But in the 87th minute, Alejo Woelper scored on a direct free kick to put Sacred Heart back in front.
• Aidan Borra then added an insurance goal for the Pioneers in the 88th minute.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
• Sacred Heart finished the game with a 10-4 advantage in shots and a 4-1 edge in corner kicks.
• Frasier's goal was the first of his collegiate career.
• In 52 career games played, Klein now has eight goals and nine assists for 25 points.

• Holy Cross returns to action on Tuesday, Aug. 27, when it plays host to Merrimack at 6 p.m.
