WORCESTER, Mass. — The Holy Cross baseball team earned a midweek non-conference victory, 10-9, over Stonehill on Tuesday, April 9 at Fitton Field.

THE DECISION:

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Stonehill loaded up the bases in the top of the first, but the Crusaders conceded just one run on a sac fly.
• Holy Cross batted around in the bottom of the first, plating five runs to take a 5-1 lead. 
• The Crusaders extended their lead to 8-1 in the second inning. Freshman left fielder John LaFleur hit an RBI double, and junior third baseman Brendan Jones followed with an RBI triple. Jones then stole home to give Holy Cross a seven-run edge. 
• Stonehill began to chip away at the Crusader advantage, scoring two runs in the fourth and adding a two-run homer in the fifth before a four-run sixth made it a 9-8 game in favor of the Skyhawks. 
• Freshman second baseman Alex Sandell tied things up in the seventh with a solo homer before junior first baseman Chris Baillargeon's RBI single gave the Crusaders a 10-9 lead. 

DUE UP:

• Holy Cross heads to Yale for a non-conference contest on Wednesday, April 10. 
• First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
