BETHLEHEM, Pa. — The Holy Cross baseball team cruised to a 14-2 run-rule victory over Lehigh on Sunday, April 28 in Patriot League action.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Crusaders jumped ahead early with a seven-run first inning. Freshman second baseman Alex Sandell, junior shortstop Jimmy King and and junior third baseman Brendan Jones each had a two-run single to give the Crusaders a 6-0 lead, and sophomore right fielder Jack Toomey walked with the bases loaded to tack on another run.
- The Mountain Hawks cut the score to 7-2 by the second inning.
- Junior designated hitter Chris Baillargeon hit a grand slam in the top of the third to extend the Crusader lead to 11-2.
- Toomey led off the fifth with a solo homer that made it a 12-2 advantage. Later in the frame, a double steal allowed Sandell to score and make it a 13-2 game.
- The lead grew to 14-2 in the sixth as an infield single by King — his fifth hit of the day — scored Baillargeon. Holy Cross held on to the double-digit advantage, helping the Crusaders earn the run-rule victory in seven innings.
DUE UP:
- Holy Cross returns home to host Brown in a non-conference contest on Tuesday, April 30.
- First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Fitton Field.
