Holy Cross downs Boston University 16-8 in regular season finale

WORCESTER, Mass. – Junior Sally Zinsner tied her career high with five goals scored, as the Holy Cross women's lacrosse team downed Boston University 16-8 at Kuzniewski Field. The Crusaders improve to 11-5 overall and 6-3 in the Patriot League with the win, while the Terriers fall to 5-11 on the season and 1-8 in the conference.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
• Senior Lauren Drillock posted a team-best six points on two goals and four assists.
• Junior Ella Kittredge and sophomore Tory Rider both finished with three goals and one assist for four points.
• Sophomore Racheli Levy-Smith tallied a game-high 10 draw controls.
• Raegan Bailey led Boston University with three goals.
• Holy Cross finished the game with a 32-19 advantage in shots and an 18-10 edge in draw controls.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The game was close early on, and the Crusaders led 4-3 with 6:18 left in the first quarter.
• Holy Cross then went on a 6-0 run to take a commanding 10-3 halftime advantage.
• The Crusaders stayed hot to start the second half, using a 4-1 spurt to increase their lead to 10 (14-4) with 8:46 left in the third quarter. 
• Holy Cross would lead by at least seven goals the rest of the way, eventually posting an eight-goal victory.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
• Levy-Smith now has 102 draw controls on the year to break the school single season record (which had been held by Keely Connors with 93 in both 2018 and 2019).
• The Crusaders' six Patriot League wins this year are tied for their most ever with the 2007 team which went 6-0 in the conference.
• Holy Cross' 11 overall victories are tied for the fifth-most in program history. 

UP NEXT:
• The Crusaders will return to action on Sunday, April 28, when they play host to Colgate in the quarterfinals of the Patriot League Tournament at 1 p.m.
