WORCESTER, Mass. — The Holy Cross baseball team fell against Army West Point, with a 15-3 result in eight innings in Patriot League action on Wednesday, April 17.

THE DECISION:

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Army took an early 1-0 lead with a two-out solo homer in the top of the first. That lead grew to 3-0 after a two-run homer in the second.
- Aided by a pair of Army errors, junior third baseman Brendan Jones came around to score and bring the Crusaders within 3-1 in the bottom of the second.
- The Black Knights led off the third inning with their third homer of the day, and a sac fly extended the lead to 5-1.
- Army used a six-run fifth to extend the lead to 11-1.
- In the sixth, junior first baseman Chris Baillargeon was hit by a pitch and freshman designated hitter Braden Connors doubled to put runners on second and third. Freshman second baseman Alex Sandell then singled to right to bring the Crusaders within 11-3.
- Army had a sac fly in the seventh before scoring three runs in the eighth to earn the run-rule victory.
DUE UP:
- Holy Cross hits the road for the next seven contests, beginning with a three-game Patriot League series at Lafayette.
- First pitch of a doubleheader on Saturday, April 20 is set for noon.
