WEST POINT, N.Y. — The Holy Cross men's lacrosse team fell to no. 2 Army, 18-8, on Saturday at Michie Stadium.
Junior
Henry Sheehan led the way for the Crusaders (2-4, 0-2 PL) with five points on three goals and two assists. Sophomore
William Stahl and freshman
Jude Lynch also recorded multi-point games with Stahl recording three points on two goals and an assist, while Lynch netted two goals.
Army (6-0, 2-0 PL) was led by Jackson Eicher, Reese Burek, and Gunnar Fellows who recorded five points each.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Freshman Jude Lynch opened the scoring for either side, finding the back of the net 33 seconds into the game.
- Army proceeded to go on a 6-0 run before Sheehan scored with 2:56 remaining in the frame.
- Army picked up one more goal in the first before Holy Cross scored two to open the second quarter, including a man-up goal by senior Matt Major, to cut the deficit to 7-4.
- Army went on a 5-0 run spanning the end of the second into the start of the third before Sheehan scored his second of the game.
- The two teams traded goals before Army scored four straight.
- Stahl picked up his second of the game with 3:11 remaining in the third before Sheehan picked up his third of the game on the man-up advantage with 5:30 remaining in regulation.
BEYOND THE BOX:
- Sophomore JR Long recorded a career-high 13 saves in relief.
- Stahl extended his goal streak to six games, dating back to the final game of last season. Over the stretch, Stahl has netted 11 goals, and has three multi-goal games.
UP NEXT:
- Holy Cross will continue their Patriot League schedule next Saturday, March 16, when they welcome to Lafayette to Kuzniewski Field for Senior Day.
- Game time is set for 1 p.m.
