Crusaders beat Bucknell 18-10

Holy Cross is now on a seven-game win streak, Miller breaks single-season assist record

WORCESTER, Mass. – Junior Isabela Miller broke the single-game assist record with her first of three, as the Holy Cross women's lacrosse team defeated Bucknell 18-10 at Kuzniewski Field. The Crusaders improve to 8-2 overall and 3-0 in the Patriot League with the win, while the Bison fall to 3-5 on the season and 1-1 in the conference. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

  • Junior Sally Zinsner, senior Lauren Drillock and Miller all had four goals a piece in the competition. Zinsner had two assists for six points while Drillock had three for seven points.
  • Sophomore Tory Rider netted two goals and had one assist in the game.
  • Senior Brynne Menen, junior Ella Kittredge, sophomore Riley Peters and freshman Annabel Brennan all scored one goal each. Kittredge had two assists and Brennan had one.
  • Bucknell was led by Megan Krestinski with two goals and one assist.
  • Holy Cross finished the game with a 22-20 advantage in shots, while the Bison held a 19-12 edge in draw controls.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Crusaders netted nine unanswered goals before the Bison netted one before the end of the quarter.
  • Bucknell kicked off the second quarter with a goal followed by a six goal run for Holy Cross. The Bison netted one more goal before the half for the 15-3 score.
  • A slower third quarter with the Crusaders picking up two more goals and Bucknell scoring one for a 17-4 result
  • The Bison netted four unanswered goals before Holy Cross responded. Bucknell continued their comeback attempt with two more goals but Holy Cross came out with the 18-10 win.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:

  • The Crusaders victory adds to a now seven-game winning streak, the second-longest in program history, behind only an 11-game winning streak in 1980.
  • Miller broke the program record for single-season assists.

UP NEXT:

  • Holy Cross will return to action on Wednesday, March 30, hitting the road traveling to American for a 12 p.m. game.
