Holy Cross downs American for eighth straight victory

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Senior Lauren Drillock totaled eight points on four goals and four assists, to lead the Holy Cross women's lacrosse team to a 15-9 victory over American at the Jacobs Complex. The Crusaders improve to 9-2 overall and 4-0 in the Patriot League with the win, while the Eagles fall to 5-7 on the season and 1-4 in the conference.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
• Junior Isabela Miller finished the day with seven points on two goals and five assists.
• Junior Sally Zinsner scored three goals, and junior Ella Kittredge added two goals and one assist.
• Senior Tori Cini made five saves in net, while allowing just nine goals.
• Annabelle Jackson led American with three goals.
• Holy Cross posted a 35-21 advantage in shots and a 15-12 edge in draw controls on the afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Eagles opened the game by scoring four of the first six goals to take a 4-2 lead early in the second quarter.
• The Crusaders responded with a 5-0 run, including three straight goals from Zinsner, and eventually led 7-5 at halftime.
• Holy Cross led by at least two goals throughout the third quarter, and was still up by two (11-9) with 9:41 remaining in the fourth quarter.
• The Crusaders then put the game away with a 4-0 run down the stretch, including a goal and two assists from Miller during that spurt.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
• Holy Cross has now won eight straight games, good for its longest winning streak since posting a school-record 11 straight victories in 1980.
• The Crusaders' 4-0 start in Patriot League play is their best since going 5-0 in conference action in 2007.
• Drillock has now scored 98 goals in her collegiate career, needing just two more to become the 12th 100-goal scorer in program history.

UP NEXT:
• Holy Cross will return to action on Saturday, April 6, when it plays host to Navy at 1 p.m.
