Crusaders show out at NEICAAA Championships

The women’s 4x400m relay team shattered the school record with a time of 3.47.83

BOSTON, Mass.— Select members of the Holy Cross track and field teams traveled to the city to partake in the NEICAAA Championships hosted at the TRACK at New Balance on from Friday through Saturday, Mar. 1-2. The Crusaders had strong performances with the women coming in ninth overall against 28 other teams and the men finishing in 24th overall out of 29 teams.

WOMEN'S MEET HIGHLIGHTS:

  • The 4x400 relay team including senior Kiley Ronan, junior Haley Murphy, sophomore Alex Lusby and junior Molly O'Connor broke the school record in the event clinching first place with a time of 3:47.83. The previous time was 3:50.45 set by Hailey Mulville '21, Caroline Frey '20, Lauren Rasmus '19 and Stefanie McArdle '18 at ECACs on Mar. 3, 2018.
  • Junior Ella Grey took second in the 60m hurdles prelim with a qualifying time of 8.76 and claimed second in the final with a time of 8.66, a season best. Sophomore Celia Kulis also competed in the event and took fifth with a qualifying time of 8.82 and came in sixth in the final with a time of 8.94.
  • Kulis also competed in the pentathlon where she came in third with 3,327 points, a personal best
  • Junior Maura Switzer took seventh place in the pole vault with a 3.54m mark.

MEN'S MEET HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Junior Brian Fennelly came in eighth in the 60m hurdles prelim with a qualifying time of 8.43 and took sixth in the final with a time of 8.32. Fellow junior Josh Exantus claimed seventh in the prelim with a time qualifying time of 8.40 and finished eighth in the final with a time of 8.52.
  • Exantus also competed in the 200m dash prelim and came in 16th place with a time of 22.34.
  • Junior Aidan Bergin came in 10th in the 60m dash prelim with a time of 7.01. He was followed closely by senior Chris Barone who came in 11th with a time of 7.06.
  • The men's 4x400 relay team consisting of freshman Tristan Miller, senior Rigoberto Alfonso, freshman Luke Boothroyd and junior Stephen Joseph came in seventh with a time of 3:23.46. 

NEXT UP:

  • The Holy Cross track and field teams conclude the 2023-24 indoor season and will return to action to begin the 2024 outdoor season.
