ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Senior guard Bo Montgomery totaled 21 points, eight rebounds and three assists, but the Holy Cross men's basketball team was defeated by Navy 76-66 at Alumni Hall. The Crusaders fall to 9-20 overall and 6-10 in the Patriot League with the loss, while the Midshipmen improve to 10-17 on the season and 6-10 in the conference.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Holy Cross opened the game by jumping out to an early 7-2 lead after the first four minutes of play. 
• Navy responded with a 16-4 run to pull in front, and would eventually lead by as many as 11 (35-24) late in the half.
• The Midshipmen went on to take a 37-28 advantage into the locker room.
• Navy held onto the lead early in the second half, increasing the margin to 13 (59-46) with 10 minutes remaining.
• The Crusaders then used an 8-2 spurt to close the gap, and would go on to trim the margin to six (66-60) with four minutes on the clock.
• But that was as close as Holy Cross would get, as the Midshipmen hit five of eight free throws in the final minute to hold on for the win.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
• The Crusaders made just 39.7 percent of their field goal attempts and 33.3 percent of their three-pointers on the day. 
• Navy was able to connect on 40.0 percent of its shots from the floor and 56.3 percent of it attempts from beyond the arc, while holding a 45-36 rebounding advantage.
• Senior guard Joe Octave finished the game with 17 points, three rebounds and three assists, while junior forward Caleb Kenney added 13 points, nine rebounds and three blocks.
• Austin Benigni led the Midshipmen with 20 points.
