WORCESTER, Mass. - Holy Cross volleyball head coach Kathleen Colpoys is excited to announce the addition of five student-athletes that will comprise the class of 2028. The class consists of Winn Godier, Lacey Murphy, Lily Torrence, Alana Whitwell and Gabby Wold.
"I am thrilled to welcome this incoming class to Worcester!" Coach Colpoys said. "This group is talented, hard working, competitive and bought into what we are building in Holy Cross Volleyball. They will raise our level within each position group. I cannot wait for them to join our returners and get to work pursuing competitive success, living an amazing culture and taking advantage of the top tier education at Holy Cross!"

Winn Godier | MB | 6-0 | Wilmington, N.C. | Hoggard | East Coast Volleyball Academy
- Played three seasons of varsity under head coach Emily Coleman.
- Named the Coastal Preps Co-Volleyball Player of the Year (2023).
- HighSchoolOT Volleyball All-State Second Team (2023).
- First Team All-MEC (2023).
- Coastal Preps Media Second Team All-Conference (2022).
- Honorable Mention All-MEC (2022).
- Placed first in the MEC during 2023 with an undefeated 15-0 record losing only one set.
- Hit .400 during her senior season and was first in the conference in hitting and first in blocks (64).
- Competed for the East Coast Volleyball Academy club team under head coach Colby Rosser.
- Member of the National Honor Society, the National Beta Club, the IB Mentorship Program and SERV.
- Plans to major in biology or political science at Holy Cross.
Lacey Murphy | MB | 6-3 | Wenham, Mass. | Bishop Fenwick | SMASH
- Played four seasons of varsity under head coach Alexis Bedard.
- Was a two-time team captain.
- Team offensive MVP.
- MAVCA All-State Player (2023).
- Catholic Central League All-Star (2023).
- Two-time Salem News All-Star (2021, 2022).
- The Item Live All-Star (2023).
- Boston Herald All-Scholastic (2023).
- Boston Globe All-Scholastic (2023).
- Team made the state quarterfinals in 2021.
- Finished 2023 with 216 kills, 106 blocks (most in the state during the regular season), 57 aces and hit .365.
- Competed for the tennis and basketball teams. Was a one-time tennis team captain.
- Also competed for the SMASH Volleyball Club under the guidance of Gary Patch.
- A two-time AAU Champions League champion (2021, 2022).
- AAU Champions League silver medalist (2022).
- Fun at the Sun Champion (2021).
- Fun at the Sun silver medalist (2023).
- Boston Volleyball Festival silver medalist (2023).
- Boston Volleyball Festival bronze medalist (2022).
- Two-time Winterfest champions (2022, 2023).
- In the classroom, won the Yale Book Award (2023) and was a two-time Academic Excellence in Theology honoree (2020-21, 2021-22).
- Member of the National Honor Society, Ethics Circle, Book Club and Arts & Crafts Club.
- Plans to major in biology.
Lily Torrence | S | 5-11 | Gainesville, Ga. | North Forsyth | A5
- Played four seasons of varsity under head coaches Kelly Christensen and Kaylee Crumley.
- A two-time team captain.
- AVCA Honorable Mention All-American (2023).
- AVCA Best and Brightest First Team (2023).
- AVCA Girls High School All-American Watch List (2023).
- Two-time All-State First Team (2022, 2023).
- Two-time All-Region First Team (2022, 2023).
- Made the AVCA Phenom List in 2022.
- Recorded 1,000 career assists and 1,000 career digs.
- Also competed for two years as a swimmer under head coach Lenox Balog.
- Was the team's most improved and Rookie of the Year.
- Participated for the A5 Club Team.
- Was a two-time club team captain.
- Was a science ambassador, member of beta, the student council, DECA, unified raiders and school culture committee.
- Undecided on her major.
Alana Whitwell | DS/L | 5-8 | Garnet Valley, Pa. | Villa Maria Academy | East Coast Power
- Played four years of varsity under head coach Peggy Evans.
- Was a one-time team captain.
- Two-time All-State First Team.
- Two-time All-District First Team.
- Two-time conference MVP.
- Two-time All-Conference First Team.
- One-time All-Conference Second Team.
- Team was a two-time AACA Conference champion.
- Team finished second in districts twice.
- Team earned the Military Grade Award for GPA twice.
- Finished her career with 993 kills and 845 digs, had 315 kills during her senior season.
- Competed for the East Coast Power club team under head coach Roberta McGuiney.
- Was part of the Spanish club, peer ministry and Festival, the literary magazine.
- Undecided on her major.
Gabby Wold | OH | 6-0 | Hartland, Wis. | Arrowhead | Milwaukee Sting
- Played four seasons of varsity under head coach Janelle Jaquish.
- Was a one-time team captain (2023).
- AVCA Best and Brightest First Team (2023).
- AVCA Girls High School All-American Watch List (2023).
- AVCA All-Region (2023).
- AVCA All-American (2023).
- All-State Honorable Mention (2023).
- All-Conference First Team (2023).
- All-Conference Second Team (2022).
- Team made the sectional finals in 2023.
- Finished with 812 career kills, 108 blocks, 587 digs and 116 aces.
- Had 323 kills as a senior in 2023.
- Competed for the Milwaukee Sting volleyball club under head coach Caitlyn Coffey.
- Was the Co-President of the Chinese Club also a member of the earth club and National Honors Society.
