The Crusaders compete at Rhode Island Coaches Invitational

KINGSTON, R.I.— The Holy Cross track and field teams traveled to the Rhode Island Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 10. The Crusaders split squads with select athletes from the men's team competing at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational hosted by BU and the rest of the team heading to Rhode Island.

WOMEN'S MEET HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Junior Helene Cummings had a personal best in the 400m with a second place time of 1:00.51. Freshmen Annaliese Rhoden and Grace Malcarney also competed in the event with Rhoden taking seventh (1.03.50) and Malcarney following for eighth (1.04.13), personal bests for both athletes. 
  • Junior Molly O'Connor had a season best in the 60m running a 7.95 in the finals for a shared seventh place.
  • Freshman Annabel Murray claimed fourth place in the 800m with a personal best time of 2:23.55.
  • Junior Caroline Gage placed fifth in the mile with a time of 5:17.13, just shy of her personal best.
  • Sophomore Celia Kulis claimed second place in the 60m hurdles final with a personal best time of 8.80. Junior Jane Feeney and senior Lauren Clark also competed in the event's preliminary round with Feeney taking ninth (9.22) and Clark following for 11th (9.24), personal bests for the pair. Feeney also took sixth place in the long jump with a mark of 5.36m.
  • Senior Lindsay Marjanski came in fourth place in the high jump with a mark of 1.60m. Freshman Alyssa Peasley marked a 1.55m in the event for eighth place, a personal best.
  • Junior Maura Switzer had a 3.50m mark in the pole vault for shared second place. 
  • Sophomore Ester Mokonchu took seventh place in the weight throw with a 15.20m mark.
  • The 4x400 relay team including Marjanski, Cummings, Murray and freshman Lindsay Gill took second with a time of 4:08.03.

MEN'S MEET HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Junior Brian Fennelly claimed sixth place in the 60m hurdles final with a time of 8.62. He took fifth in the preliminary round with a time of 8.38.
  • Sophomore Jack Noble placed ninth in the mile with a time of 4:35.83, a personal best.
  • The 4x400 relay team including freshman Rory Olsen, freshman Ryan Hatem, junior Andrew Van De Mark and sophomore Ben Stone took fifth with a time of 3:41.47.

NEXT UP:

  • The Holy Cross track and field teams will return to action for the Indoor Patriot League Championship from Saturday, Feb. 24-25 in Boston, Mass.
