Game Recap: Men's Ice Hockey |

Men’s ice hockey splits series with AIC

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross men's ice hockey team fell to AIC, 3-2, Friday night at the Hart Center Rink.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • AIC got out to a 2-0 start in the first period, netting an even strength goal at the 5:35 mark of the period before tacking on a power play goal with 2:04 to play in the period.
  • Senior Michael Hodge cut the AIC lead in half with a goal at the 16:48 mark of the second period, picking up a rebound off a shot by junior Mack Oliphant and sending it past the AIC netminder.
  • Senior Liam McLinskey tied the game at 2-2 with 7:22 remaining in the third period with a shorthanded goal that bounced off an AIC defender and into the back of the net.
  • AIC took the 3-2 lead with 51.6 seconds remaining in the third period.
 
BEYOND THE BOX:
  • Senior Thomas Gale finished the night with 33 saves.
  • Sophomore Jack Stockfish led both sides with 11 faceoff wins.
  • McLinskey's shorthanded goal was the first for the Crusaders since Oct. 27, 2023 when senior John Gelatt netted one against RIT.
 
UP NEXT:
  • Holy Cross will travel to Niagara Falls, N.Y., next weekend to face Niagara on Friday, Nov. 15, and Saturday, Nov. 16.
