The Holy Cross men's basketball team will begin the 2024-2025 campaign when it travels to Wisconsin for a 7 p.m. (CST) game on Monday, Nov. 4. The contest between the Crusaders and the Badgers will be shown live on Big Ten Plus.
The Crusaders are entering their second year under head coach
Dave Paulsen, a Wisconsin native, and are coming off a 2023-2024 season in which they went 10-23 overall and 6-12 in the Patriot League. Holy Cross will be led by senior forward
Caleb Kenney, the reigning Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year. Kenney averaged 11.9 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.2 blocks and 0.8 steals per game a year ago, while making 57.6 percent of his field goal attempts (174 of 302). Also returning to the starting lineup is sophomore guard
Joe Nugent, who put up 6.2 points and 4.4 rebounds per contest and hit 40.3 percent of his shots from three-point range. In addition, the Crusaders have added two transfers and four freshmen to their roster, who will look to make an immediate impact.
Wisconsin is coming off a 2023-2024 campaign in which it went 22-14 overall, placed fifth in the Big Ten Conference (11-9) and advanced to the NCAA Tournament. Senior forward Steven Crowl averaged 11.2 points and 7.3 rebounds per game last year, while hitting 55.6 percent of his field goal attempts. Senior guard Max Klesmit also returns to the starting lineup, after putting up 9.9 points and 2.1 boards per contest a year ago.
After the game with Wisconsin, Holy Cross will travel to Rhode Island for a 7:00 p,m. contest on Friday, Nov. 8.
