WORCESTER, Mass. — Junior
Alessandro Bizzarri and freshman
Lucas Bikkesbakker both went 3-0 in singles play, as the Holy Cross men's tennis team competed in the Holy Cross Invitational at the Sinnott Family Tennis Facility.
FLIGHT A SINGLES DRAW:
• Junior
Camilo Illanes and sophomore
Matt Carlson both advanced to the semifinals for the Crusaders.
• Illanes defeated Leon Zeis of Nichols 0-6, 6-2, (10-4) in the first round, before edging freshman teammate
Ezequiel De la Plaza 6-4, 4-6, (10-6) in the quarterfinals.
• Carlson took down Caio Dieckmann of Nichols 6-3, 6-4 in the first round, then topped Richard Hartmann Zuzio of Nichols 7-5, 6-4 in the quarterfinals.
FLIGHT B SINGLES DRAW:
• Bizzarri and Bikkesbakker both won all three of their matches to advance to the final.
• Bizzarri defeated Hugo Cote of Nichols in the first round (6-3, 6-1), Alec Martinez of Bryant in the quarterfinals (6-2, 6-1) and Marcus Macaulay of Bryant in the semifinals (6-1, 2-6, (10-5)).
• Bikkesbakker downed Andrew Kelley of Bryant in the first round (6-3, 2-6, (16-14)), senior teammate
Matt Maggiacomo in the quarterfinals (6-1, 6-4) and Forbes Hollingsworth of Bryant in the semifinals (6-2, 6-2).
FINALS:
• The final matches were not played in either the A or B draw, with both matches would have been between players from the same school.
NEXT UP:
• Holy Cross has concluded the fall portion of its season, and will return to action in the spring of 2025.
