Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Women’s basketball downed by Boston College

WORCESTER, Mass. — The Holy Cross women's basketball team was defeated by nonconference opponent Boston College 81-55 Saturday afternoon in the Hart Center Arena.
 
Junior forward Meg Cahalan led the Crusaders (3-3) with a team-high 14 points on 5-of-9 (55.6%) shooting and 3-of-6 (50%) three-point efficiency. She was joined in double-figures by classmate Kaitlyn Flanagan with 10 points.
 
Four players reached double-figures for the Eagles (6-1) including Teya Sidberry who dropped 18 points in 19 minutes of action going 8-of-9 (88.9%) from the field.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • BC began the game on a 10-2 run scoring eight points off five Holy Cross turnovers in the opening 3:31 of the contest. Their run expanded to 17-2 halfway through the first quarter. Holy Cross closed the quarter on a 10-2 scoring binge with Cahalan producing five points during that run to trail 19-12 after one.
  • Flanagan hung in the lane for a floater dropping the deficit to nine, 26-17 with 6:05 left in the half. From that point, BC doubled up the Crusaders 12-to-6. Junior guard Simone Foreman pulled down a board and went coast-to-coast for two points right before the intermission.
  • Cahalan drained her third three of the game in the third quarter putting her team down 42-26 with 6:35 left. The Eagles climbed ahead by 24 with 4:33 remaining in the stanza.
  • The Crusaders jumped out to a 10-3 binge scoring 10 straight markers with sophomore Kendall Eddy and classmate Simone Lewis notching four points apiece to trail by 14, 61-47. The guests outscored the Crusaders 20-8 throughout the remainder of the contest.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
  • Holy Cross is 0-2 at home for the first time since 2009-10.
  • The game saw a combined 45 turnovers with 51 points being scored off those miscues.
  • Lewis matched a personal-high with six points and established a new career-best with six rebounds in 22 minutes off the bench.
UP NEXT:
  • Holy Cross plays its final game before Thanksgiving on Tuesday, Nov. 26 at New Hampshire (4-3).
  • Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.
