DURHAM, N.H. — Junior guard
Simone Foreman scored a career-high 21 points as the Holy Cross women's basketball team picked up a 57-43 victory Tuesday night against nonconference foe New Hampshire in Lindholm Gymnasium.
Â
It was Foreman's second 20+ point effort of the campaign for the Crusaders (4-3) as she matched a personal-best with three triples to go with nine boards and two steals. Sophomore
Kendall Eddy and junior
Meg Cahalan joined her in double figures with 11 points apiece. Nine of Cahalan's 11 points came in the fourth quarter.
Â
New Hampshire (4-4) was led by Eva DeChent's team-best 14 points.
Â
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Foreman canned a right wing three for the early Crusader 3-0 lead. Foreman drained her second triple of the quarter doubling up the margin at 8-4. An Eddy trey and another Foreman bucket increased the lead to 13-9. Sophomore Janie Bachmann used a nifty up and under move for the hoop and harm to make it 16-9 with 3:10 left. Foreman drove strong to the rack for a two at the buzzer for the 18-9 Crusader lead.
- UNH out produced the Crusaders 11-6 over the opening 7:43 of the stanza to trim the margin to 24-20. Holy Cross went on a 7-2 mini burst over the final minutes with junior Kaitlyn Flanagan finding classmate Mary-Elizabeth Donnelly on the left wing for three, picking off a pass and going the other way for an easy two and converting a pull up jumper for the 31-22 halftime edge. Â
- New Hampshire used an and1 to bring their deficit to two possessions at 35-30 with 5:16 left in the third. A step-back trey increased their run to 11-4 and made the score 35-33 at the 4:22 mark. Flanagan dished to Eddy for a corner triple, however the Wildcats kept their deficit at five, 40-35 through three.
- The Wildcats came within four, 45-41. From that point on the Crusaders closed the game on a 12-2 run as Cahalan drilled three three-pointers during the scoring burst.

- Holy Cross' 4-1 start on the road is their best record away from Worcester since starting the year 5-0 in 1996-97.
- Foreman scored 14 of her 21 points in the first half.
