WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross director of cross country and track and field Egetta Alfonso has announced the team captains for the upcoming 2024-25 season. 

The women's team will be led by junior mid-distance runner Alex Lusby and five seniors: sprinters Molly O'Connor and Haley Murphy, hurdler/jumper Lauren Clark, pole vaulter Maura Switzer and mid-distance/distance runner Abby Hughes. 

On the men's side, junior mid-distance/distance runner Liam Lyons will lead alongside four seniors: hurdler/sprinter Josh Exantus, sprinter Aidan Bergin, hurdler/multi-event athlete Brian Fennelly, and distance runner William Schimitsch.

"Our 11 captains are unique and all bring something different to the table. They embody the balance between competitiveness and compassion," said Alfonso. "Their work on and off the track and field, commitment to campus and their innate understanding of what their teammates need make them the true heart of our team. I could not have asked for a better group to move HC track forward."

The Crusaders will begin the 2024-25 indoor season on Dec. 7 at the Alden Invitational hosted by Brown.
