Richard’s buzzer beater lifts Crusaders over New Hampshire

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Freshman forward Aidan Richard hit a three-pointer as time expired, to give the Holy Cross men's basketball team a 74-72 victory over New Hampshire on the final day of the College Hill Classic at the Pizzitola Sports Center. The Crusaders improve to 3-2 on the season with the win, while the Wildcats fall to 1-6 overall.
 
 HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The game was close throughout a first half that featured seven ties and 13 lead changes. 
• The Wildcats held a 33-32 edge with three minutes left until the break, before closing out the half with an 8-2 spurt to take a 41-34 advantage into the locker room.
• New Hampshire increased its lead to 13 (52-39) early in the second half, when Holy Cross went on a 14-2 run to get back into the game. 
• Freshman guard Tyler Boston scored seven points during that spurt.
• The score stayed close the rest of the way, and the Crusaders were clinging to a 71-69 lead in the final minute.
• Davide Poser then hit a three-pointer with 11.7 seconds left to put the Wildcats in front, before Richard's buzzer beater won the game for Holy Cross. 
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
• The Crusaders made 48.1 of their field goal attempts and 50.0 percent of their three-pointers, but only hit 50.0 percent of their free throws.
• New Hampshire connected on 52.0 percent of its shots from the floor and 57.9 percent of its attempts from three-point range.
• Richard finished the game with 12 points, while hitting four of five three-pointers.
• Boston tallied 12 points and eight assists, while freshman guard Max Green, senior forward Caleb Kenney and sophomore guard DeAndre Williams added 11 points each.
• The Wildcats were led by Anthony McComb with 17 points.

COLLEGE HILL CLASSIC:
• Holy Cross finished with a perfect 3-0 record to claim the championship of the College Hill Classic.
• This is the 16th regular season tournament title in program history, and the first since the Crusaders won the Springfield Bracket of the 2018 Basketball Hall of Fame Tip-Off Tournament.
• Boston was named the MVP of the College Hill Classic, after averaging 15.0 points, 5.3 assists and 3.3 rebounds in the tournament.
• Green joined Boston on the All-Tournament Team, after putting up 17.0 points and 5.7 rebounds per contest.

• Holy Cross returns to action on Wednesday, Nov. 20, when it plays host to Mitchell at 6 p.m.
