NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. – The Holy Cross men's ice hockey team fell to Niagara, 3-2, Saturday night at Dwyer Arena.
 
With the loss, Holy Cross moves to 4-8-1 (3-4-1 AHA), while Niagara improves to 6-4-3 (5-2-2 AHA) with the win.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Niagara scored the lone goal of the first period to take the 1-0 lead into the first intermission.
• Senior Liam McLinskey tied the game at 1-1 with a goal on the power play with 17:24 to go in the second period. Picking up the loose puck in the slot, McLinskey sent a wrist shot right past the Niagara netminders' glove.
• Niagara regained the lead with just over three minutes remaining in the middle frame, before extending the lead to 3-1 eight minutes into the third period.
• McLinskey picked up his second power play goal of the night to make it a one-goal game with just under four minutes remaining in the third, picking up a rebound off a shot by junior Devin Phillips and sending it past the outstretched netminder.

 
BEYOND THE BOX:

• Senior Thomas Gale recorded 18 saves in the contest.
• Sophomore Will Elias' assist on the Crusaders second goal was the first point of his career.
• Sophomores Ty Gagno and Jack Stockfish tied for the game-lead in faceoff wins with 15 each.

 
UP NEXT:

• Holy Cross will travel to West Point, N.Y. next Friday, Nov. 22. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. at Tate Rink.
