PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Freshman guard Max Green scored a career-high 25 points to lead the Holy Cross men's basketball team to an 82-75 victory over Sacred Heart in the opening game of the College Hill Classic at the Pizzitola Sports Center. The Crusaders improve to 1-2 on the season with the win, while the Pioneers fall to 0-4 overall.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
• Holy Cross made 50.9 of its field goal attempts, 40.0 percent of its three-pointers and 75.0 percent of its free throws on the night, while holding a 33-30 rebounding advantage and committing just seven turnovers.
• Sacred Heart connected on 44.6 percent of its shots from the floor and 68.2 percent of its attempts at the charity stripe.
• Senior forward Caleb Kenney scored 16 points on seven of eight shooting from the field.
• Freshman guard Tyler Boston added 15 points and six assists.
• The Pioneers were led by Aidan Carpenter with 21 points.

 HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Sacred Heart started the game by jumping out to an early 8-0 lead.
• The Pioneers were still up by seven (18-11) midway through the first half, when the Crusaders went on a 15-8 run to tie up the game at 26-26.
• Sacred Heart eventually took a narrow 37-35 advantage into the locker room.
• The lead went back-and-forth early in the second half, and the Pioneers held a two-point lead (56-54) with nine minutes to go.
• Holy Cross then scored 10 straight points, including five points from Green, to pull in front for good. 
• The Crusaders went on to make eight of 10 free throws in the final two minutes to earn the victory.

• Holy Cross returns to action on Saturday, Nov. 16, when it faces Brown at 7 p.m. in its second game of the College Hill Classic.
