STORRS, Conn. – The Holy Cross women's hockey team traveled to No. 10 UConn for game one of the two-game series on Friday night. After holding on to a 1-0 lead through the first two periods, the Crusaders fell 2-1 in overtime due to a late Huskies scoring surge.
BETWEEN THE PIPES:
- Holy Cross: Abby Hornung (L, 1-1), 35 saves
- UConn: Tia Chan (W, 4-1), 16 saves
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- In the first period, the Crusaders took a late 1-0 lead with a goal by sophomore assistant captain Emily Crovo at 17:16. She was assisted by senior forward Madison Michals and junior defender Taylor Cantelon.
- Neither team scored in the second period. Hornung made 12 saves to Chan's 3 in the period.
- In the third period, UConn's Maya Serdachny hit the equalizer with less than five minutes left in regulation to force the game into overtime.
- The Huskies took the 2-1 win with a Ashley Allard overtime game-winner at 1:41.
- UConn led Holy Cross 38-17 in shots and 34-24 in face-offs to conclude the game.

- The Crusaders continue their series with the Huskies on Saturday, Nov. 2 at 2:00 pm. at the Hart Center Rink in Worcester, Mass.
